Reflection Hour at Southern Sugar Cafe’ (Memory Cafe’) – Fort Mill
January 17 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 2:00pm on day Third of the month, repeating indefinitely
Wellmore of Tega Cay and Southern Sugar Café have partnered with Alzheimer’s Association to host Reflection Hour every 3rd Thursday from 2 pm to 4pm to bring families, spouses, and/or caregivers together in a safe, cozy, and accepting environment while enjoying time with the one they love affected by Dementia.
What is a “Memory Café” @ Southern Sugar Cafe?
This Memory Café will be a safe & welcoming place for individuals with Alzheimer’s or any type of the dementia, along with their loved ones to find moments of joy. Southern Sugar will provide a pre-selected dessert tray with a drink menu for easy ordering. Music in the background from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s playing softly to create a calming effect focused on lowering behaviors. Those attending will get to enjoy each other’s company and hopefully connect with other families suffering with similar issues.
Not a Respite Stay or Adult Drop Off
This Memory Cafe is beneficial to those afflicted, but it is also beneficial for their caregivers as well. It is not a place to “drop off” your loved one for a while, but a way to enjoy activities with them as a break from the normal routine. They can simply enjoy the company of those with similar things in common.
This will be a safe and comfortable space where caregivers and their loved ones can socialize, listen to music, play games, and enjoy other folks. They provide mutual support and exchange information.
